Spay & Neuter
The decision to spay or neuter your pet is one of the most beneficial preventive care decisions you can make to improve their quality of life. At Mt. Horeb Animal Hospital, we recommend having your pet spayed or neutered between 4 and 6 months of age. However, we recognize that there are varying schools of thought on the best age to spay and neuter your pet, and we would be happy to discuss your preferences or concerns at any time, to help you determine what is best for your pet.
Spaying and neutering reduces pet overpopulation by preventing unwanted litters, lowers your pet’s risk for certain cancers, eliminates reproductive emergencies, and may improve hormone-related behavior. Although these surgeries are often performed on puppies and kittens, they can be performed at any age to benefit the pet’s health and safety.
